A Lot of Off-Season News this week!
Posted Friday, February 19, 2010 by Brian Vegliando
It is an eventful week for Wallkill Football! First, you'll notice that the 2010 Schedule has been released, and it features several key games and great contests at Robinson Field. The Panthers open the 2010 campagin at home against Washingtonville, the first time Wallkill's been at home for its opener since 2007. Then they travel to Dietz Satdium the second week of the season to play Kingston, in what has been dubbed in recent years as the "Ulster County Super Bowl." The following week, th ePanthers travel to Port Jervis to open up their Class A schedule on Friday Night. Other key games include the defending Champion Cornwall Dragons coming to Pather Country for a night game in October, Homecoming against Saugerties, and the regular season finale against neighborhood rival Valley Central in "The Battle of the Valley." Check out the Schedule Section on the Home Page for all the dates, times, and details.
Another peice of news this week is meeting set up for all returning and potential players in the 2010 Football Program. On Monday morning, February 22nd, there is a meeting in the High School during homeroom in the back third of the gym for any current freshman, sophomore, or junior who is planning on playing football in the fall. The purpose of the meeting is to distribute some information to be brought home to parents & guardians, collect updated contact & schedule information from players, and to get the word out about upcoming events.
Following that meeting, there will be a similar meeting in the Middle School for all current 7th and 8th graders who want to play football in the fall. The meeting is for those interested in Youth, Modified, and/or JV. This meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 24th during homeroom in the John G. Borden Middle School Auditorium.
Finally, a parents' meeting will be held on Monday evening, March 1st, in the High School Cafeteria to discuss player expectations, off-season events, fundraising, and other information that is relevant as we gear up for the spring sports season. We thank everyone in advance for all of their help and support over the course of this past year, and look forward to the many great things that await the Wallkill Football Program in 2010.
Hail to Wallkill!
