Wallkill High Schools class of 2007 valedictorian will be heading to Iona College in New Rochelle, New York where he will study Business Administration. Matt was one of our co-captains and starting right guard for our 2006 varsity football team. He has had a tremendous career here at Wallkill, both in and out of the classroom. This past fall, he was named the New York State High School Football Coaches Association’s scholar-athlete of the year, as well as being named to the state’s first-team all-academic team as well.
There is little doubt that Matt has accomplished a great deal during his high school career. What we are most proud of however, is the courage and determination to come back from a devastating leg injury that cost him his junior year. Any spectator, who was unaware of his injury, would never suspect that he was playing with a titanium rod in his leg. He never let the injury affect his play, or made any excuses. Matt has displayed great leadership, character, and courage while as a member of our program. We wish to thank him for his inspiration to us, and we also wish him all the best in his bright future.
