Gary Seymour of Wallkill, a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. He was 54.
Son of the late John and Mary Conners Seymour, he was born November 28, 1952 in Newburgh, N.Y.
Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He attended SUNY New Paltz where he obtained his B.S. in Zoology, as well as Life Chiropractic in Georgia, where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic Medicine. He served as Director for the not-for-profit organization Hudson Valley Wildlife, coached for the Newburgh Nuclears American Legion, and was a member of the New Windsor Rockets Baseball Club.
Gary will be remembered as a free-spirited individual who loved the outdoors. He was a devoted "uncle" to ALL children, and above all else, was thoughtful and giving. Perhaps you have something from Gary in your home.
Survivors include his loving wife, JoAnn, at home; his son, John Graham Seymour; two daughters, Edna May Seymour and Heidi Mary Conners Seymour; nieces and nephews: Sean Seymour and his wife, Gina, Ryan Seymour and his wife, Dyani, Jennifer Seymour, and Alexandra and Shane Rightmeyer; great-nieces and nephews, Sydney Rayne Seymour and Jack Seymour; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Carl Schiefer; sister-in-law, Joanne Seymour; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Heidi Rightmeyer; brother-in-law, Eugene Schiefer; and best friends and godfathers to his three children: John Babcock, John Martin and Ed Rightmeyer. Gary was also a devoted godfather to Kari Martin, Jennifer Seymour and Shane Rightmeyer.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John T. Seymour.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 26 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
