Our 2006 football season officially begins on Monday, August 14th with a mandatory meeting at 8am on the hill outside our teamroom. All players who do not have a conflict with summer school at this time should be there. Players should be dressed in their practice jersey, shorts, and have their helmets with them. If you were not issued a helmet yet, try to get to the teamroom no later than 7:30am so that we can issue one to you. However, the meeting will not be delayed to issue equipment, so get there early.
If we do not have a green card from the nurse, you will not be allowed to begin practicing. All players were warned that this should be taken care of prior to August 14th. Some did not listen, and will not be able to begin on Monday. If you are not cleared, you should report to the nurse after the meeting, but do not expect to receive a physical on Monday if you do not have an appointment already scheduled. Do not get angry with the nurse, as it is your fault that you did not take care of this as you were instructed to. You may miss the first couple of days as a result of this, but you have no one to blame but yourself.
Players are reminded to hydrate themselves prior to Monday morning. If you wait until Monday morning, it will be too late. Start early and continue to do so all through camp, and througout the season as well. Cut down on the simple sugars and eat properly in order to fuel your body to perform. Stay away from junk food and make sure that you are getting enough protein in your diet so that your muscle mass does not begin to break down on you.
A reminder to anyone who did not take the speed/endurance test on Wednesday night, that you will be expected to take it at 12noon on Monday after we finish camp for that day. It will take roughly 30-40 minutes to complete. Everyone is required to do this.
See you on Monday morning at 8am. Do not be late.
